Information touchscreen introduced at Pebble Beach golf event
February 6, 2008
As the first round of the 2008 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on the Monterey Peninsula in California gets underway today, attendees and players will have access to a touchscreen kiosk that displays real-time tournament statistics and even allows fans to locate their favorite player on the course.
Visual Incite's Briezy kiosks, loosely named after a company engineer's eight-year-old daughter, are placed at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in the media center, players' area and several hospitality tents. In addition to tournament stats and player information, the touchscreens can even show where a certain player's golf ball is on the fairway.

One of Visual Incite's Briezy kiosks sits inside the AT&T Fairway 1 House, the tournament's main hospitality tent. |
"We want to help people in hospitality tents track their favorite player," said Ken Borruso, Visual Incite's director of engineering.
It was Borruso's daughter Gabrielle, an avid video gamer, who conceived the idea over dinner one night, he said.
The kiosks are not designed for outdoor use, but that could possibly change in the future. It is possible the kiosks could also be used at off-site locations such as a hotel, Borruso said.
"We would like to see it rollout at all other golf events, other sports, possibly even in homes. But for now, we're taking it on an event by event basis."
