Information kiosks will provide online services for rural areas of India

(Bangkok) Thaindian Times: Shimla, India's Himachal Pradesh government, has inked an agreement with India-based IT solutions provider Tera Software and GNG Trading to establish 2,070 information kiosks in its Shimla and Mandi divisions. The kiosks, scheduled for deployment within a year, will provide online services in rural areas and offer access to services without visiting district and subdivision headquarters. Services include issuing voter identity cards, giving police complaint registration, passport enquiry status, school board results, high court cases' list, government information and forms and agriculture-related services.
