BURNABY, British Columbia - A new initiative launched by Info Touch Technologies Corp. (CDNX:IFT) and Compaq Canada has a fishy smell to it. But that is by design, because the project is aimed at increasing knowledge of Canada's waters and ecosystems.
Info Touch announced on Feb. 19 that the kiosk development company and computer-maker Compaq would supply 14 Web-based kiosk terminals to Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
The project is aimed at educating Canadians on the country's waterways and ecosystems. Fisheries and Oceans Canada is a government agency mandated to develop safe, healthy, and productive waters and aquatic ecosystems through education and scientific development.
The kiosks will connect users to Fisheries and Oceans Canada initiatives through the organization's Web site. Other government services will also be available through the kiosks.
[Editor's note: Info Touch Technologies became Tio Networks in April 2006.]
