DENVER -- Kiosk Information Systems (KIS) will incorporate software from Info Touch Technologies in current and future deployments of its Shibby kiosks, according to an executive at RMES Communications, the concessionaire that offers telecom services to airports.
KIS and RMES have installed 32 Shibbys at the Denver International Airport. Most are located on concourses, offering travelers e-mail and video e-mail access, Web browsing and video games.
RMES President Herman Malone said plans are in the works to turn the kiosks into devices that offer more transactions, such as purchases of cell phone top-ups or long-distance calling cards, instead of simply Internet access. Rick Malone, president of KIS (and no relation to Herman Malone), confirmed that the companies will "drive new ways to generate revenue."
Herman Malone said the deal with Info Touch should be complete within the next few months. NetShift currently provides the Shibby software. See related story, "KIS on a roll since capturing KioskCom category."
