BURNABY, British Columbia -- Info Touch Technologies Corp. and the St- AlbertCAP.com Society announced the unveiling of nine kiosks and the official commencement of the Community Access Program's Public Internet Access Centers.
Through this grassroots initiative, local residents of St. Albert can now access Internet and email service, and receive Web support with links to local, regional, public and private Web resources, according to a news release. These public Internet access centers are funded through Industry Canada's Community Access Program.
"We are thrilled to participate in community based initiatives, as it fits well within our overall vision of applying state-of-the art technology to enhance people's quality of life," said Hamed Shahbazi, chairman and chief executive officer of Info Touch Technologies. "These innovative assets will surely benefit the community by improving access to information and services for all citizens."
"St. Albert residents will benefit from affordable, convenient Internet access," said Allan Rock, Canada's Minister of Industry. "This will give them opportunities for innovative learning, skills development, access to government services and business creation."

The Community Access Program is helping to keep Canada among world leaders in terms of Internet connectivity and innovative applications.
The program is establishing public Internet access centers in remote, rural and urban communities nationwide. Since 1995, more than 840 Community Access Program centers have been approved and established in Alberta, representing a Government of Canada investment of over $13 million, the release said.
