Info kiosk provides results at skiing event

CALGARY -- SMART Technologies Inc. is providing kiosk technology to the 2003 CIBC Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup being held today through Dec. 7.

SMART has provided the official information kiosk in the main lobby of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, where the event headquarters is located. According to a news release, the Rear Projection SMART Board 3000i interactive whiteboard will serve as the official gateway to real-time race results, schedules, and event and athlete information.

In the past, organizers posted race results and event information for spectators and guests using paper and tacks. This year marks the first time that the event will feature a touch-sensitive, interactive kiosk where event information can be accessed online.

With a computer image displayed on the interactive whiteboard, spectators and guests can simply touch the screen to navigate three dedicated Web sites specific to the event, using their finger as a mouse to access the information they need.
