John English, an inventor of sports betting kiosks, passed away on Saturday in Las Vegas, his home town, according to a sportshandle.com report. He was 60.
English developed a sports betting kiosk that he introduced to Nevada bars in the early 2000s. The state outlawed the kiosk in 2013, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.
English then developed a kiosk for keno and bingo games for casinos and sportsbooks nationwide. The kiosk included a touchscreen, a bill acceptor, a ticket printer and a bar code reader to scan the ticket.
He served as chief innovation officer at Bet Leroy's, a Las Vegas provider of legal sports betting solutions, at the time of his death.
