India's Lohegaon Airport gets first self-service kiosk

At Lohegaon Airport in India, the lines to board are about to get a little shorter. On Thursday, Union Minister for Environment and Forests Prakash Javadekar inaugurated the facility's first check-in kiosk, according to a report from The Indian Express.

The airport also opened a new Wi-Fi lounge at the event.

"The check-in kiosk has become functional from today," said airport director Manoj Gangal. "It would prove helpful in saving time of the passengers as well as reducing the load on the other kiosks as there is considerable proportion of fliers who carry cabin baggage and will use the self check-in kiosk. Internationally, all the airports have this facility. We have now initiated it on pilot basis and will launch more kiosks in the future."

According to the report, approximately 1,500 passengers travel through Lohegaon daily, which means it will ultimately need four more kiosks to meet demand.
