Methodist Hospitals has introduced a self-service kiosk at its Southlake Campus in Merrillville, Indiana, aiming to streamline patient registration and decrease wait times, according to an NWI Life report.

The kiosk, located in Pavillion A, allows patients to independently check in, scan identification and insurance cards, complete electronic documents, and manage payments. Performance Manager Eric Pertzborn reports a 50-60% reduction in waiting room time since the kiosk's implementation in early February 2025.

"We believe people will gravitate to using the kiosk because we see kiosks in so many other industries like stores, airports and movie theaters,"Pertzborn told the news outlet, highlighting the hospital's effort to provide a familiar and efficient experience. The kiosk also provides personalized directions to scheduled appointments.

Methodist Hospitals plans to evaluate the kiosk's performance and potentially expand its use to other locations within the hospital system.
