Residents can get free naxolone at a newly installed vending machine at Clark Memorial Health in Jeffersonville, Indiana, the first of 19 such machines planned statewide, according to a whas11.com report. The machine is located outside the emergency department.

Each kit offers a single dose of naloxone, instructions for use and a treatment referral. The machine holds close to 300 naxolone kits.

Overdose Lifeline, a non-profit, purchased the machines using federal grant funds.

Indiana experienced a 32% in fatal overdoses from April 2020 to April 2021, according to state health officials and data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
