Indiana county wins award for tax kiosk

The Association of Indiana Counties awarded Allen County the 2014 County Achievement Award for its property tax kiosk housed in the treasurer's office.

The Association of Indiana Counties awarded Allen County, Indiana the 2014 County Achievement Award for its property tax kiosk housed in the treasurer's office, according to a press release.

County Treasurer Susan Orth and staff conceptualized the idea to reduce waiting times for tax payers during tax season.

AIC gives the award to counties that demonstrate:

• Substantial leadership to plan and complete the project
• It can be utilized by other counties.
• It resulted in cost savings or increased efficiency and effectiveness of government.
• It was a creative approach to finding solutions for a difficult problem.

Winners are chosen by a panel of judges of elected county officials across the state. AIC announced the award at its annual conference in Bloomington, Indiana.
