Indian startup launches mobile utility bill payment kiosk using blockchain

December 4, 2019

A Bengaluru, India based startup called XPay.Life has created a blockchain-based transaction framework that supports the full spectrum of bill payment services such as touchscreen kiosks, web, mobile app, PoS devices and mobile automatic telephone payment vans, according to a yourstory.com report

The van has a touchscreen kiosk and will visit geographic areas where utility bill payment is a challenge. The kiosk allows a user to pay utility bills using cash or digital payment. The kiosk has point-of-sale device that accepts debit and credit cards and a cash acceptor.

The solution offers "one-click" transaction processing and uses cloud-based Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service technologies.

The mobile van will also have a vending machine to dispense sanitary napkins and condoms for free in rural areas.

The company plans to deploy 25,000 kiosks in operation by next year.
