The Pala Band of Mission Indians has installed the first naloxone vending machine on tribal land in the U.S. at the Pala Fire Department in Southern California, according to a press release.

The tribe teamed with Harm Reduction Coalition of San Diego to install the machine, which offers free naloxone kits and fentanyl test strips. Naloxone, known as Narcan, reverses the effects of opioid overdose.

The machine was funded through San Diego County's Naloxone Distribution Program.
