Riders on RAPIDX, India's high speed regional rail service, will be able to use the country's unified payments interface, known as UPI, to buy tickets, according to a Business Standard report. The railway's ticket vending machines will feature the UPI, a payment system that facilitates interbank, peer-to-peer and person-to-merchant transactions.
Riders will also be able to use the RAPIDX mobile app that also features UPI. The app will instruct users to tap the "buy ticket" option on the screen and view destination options. They will then scan the QR code to complete payment.
Riders will also still be able to pay using cash or payment cards at the ticket office machine.
