India state to deploy cloth bag vending machines to reduce plastic use

To encourage consumers to use reusable cloth bags rather than single-use plastic bags, the Odisha State Pollution Control Board in Odisha, India will install cloth bag vending machines in five cities, according to a sambadenglish.com report.

The five cities are Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, Cuttack and Sambalpur.

The machines will be deployed in shopping centers, bus stops, markets and other public areas.

The board is considering working with female self help groups to produce the bags.
