NEW DELHI, India -- The civil aviation ministry has decided to upgrade 24 regional airports across the country to improve the service standards and passenger facilities.
According to an article in The Times of India,the idea is to give the airports a new look, and to make the passenger services more friendly by facilities such as Internet kiosks, fast-food counters, better trolleys and porter services.
The renovation will be completed over the next three to four months. The airports are located in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Goa, Varanasi, Lucknow, Patna, Jammu and Ahmedabad.
The article said the ministry has already empowered directors at these airports to ink deals with private firms.
