May 18, 2009
The Times of India: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board in Channai, Tamil Nadu, India has developed a proposal to install 50 bill-payment kiosks, enabling consumers to pay electricity bills around-the-clock. Four such kiosks were deployed by the TNEB in 2008 on a trial basis and were used by at least 8,000 consumers per month, prompting the expansion. Sources say the installations should be completed within a couple of months.
