Artificial intelligence kiosks are slated to be introduced at the Kendall County Courthouse in Illinois to assist residents with common legal processes before they need to visit the circuit clerk's office, according to a WSPY News report. Kendall County Circuit Clerk Matthew Prochaska said the AI system will help guide individuals seeking orders of protection by answering questions about the process, explaining key definitions and walking users through the necessary steps.
Kendall County is just west of Chicago.
The AI station will also support the court's electronic filing system. Because Illinois requires all court documents to be submitted through mandatory e-filing, court staff frequently assist people with the process. The AI-based system is intended to reduce that burden by allowing users to receive guidance and complete e-filing tasks independently, potentially eliminating the need for in-person assistance from the clerk's office staff.
