The Lake County, Illinois Council will consider a $23,560 bid for a thermometer kiosk system to monitor visitors and employees at the county sheriff's department after commissioners voted last week to table the request amid a lawsuit and wanted more information about the purchase, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

The council will consider establishing a budget line item to buy thermometer kiosks.

Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez recommended the highest bidder for the thermometer kiosks, according to a letter sent to the commissioners.

While the commissioners and the council await a judge's decision on the validity of the current veto and override procedure between the two government entities, several Lake County Sheriff's Department purchases have been tabled.

Martinez asked for council's help to buy the kiosks to protect inmates, jail staff and the public during the pandemic at its Thursday study session. The commission voted to postpone action on the kiosks at its November and December meetings.
