A network of job kiosks across Kane, Kendall and DeKalb counties in Illinois is helping connect residents with employment opportunities and workforce services, according to the Kane County Connects website, particularly for those who face barriers to accessing traditional resources. Installed over the past six months, the 15 kiosks have recorded 1,112 user sessions, with the highest activity reported at Hesed House and the Santori Library in Aurora, as well as the Gail Borden Public Library and West Branch Library in Elgin.

The kiosks provide direct access to job listings, career coaching, training programs and support services through platforms including workNet Batavia, Illinois JobLink and Illinois workNet. The system is designed to streamline the job search process, allowing users to quickly identify available positions and connect with workforce development resources.

Workforce leaders are continuing to collaborate with local employers to expand job listings available through the kiosks. Aurora Packing Co., which is expanding operations in North Aurora, plans to add 15 positions that will be promoted through the network. Officials say the goal is to create a direct hiring pipeline, positioning the kiosks as a fast and reliable source of up-to-date local job opportunities.

In addition to libraries, kiosks have been placed in community locations such as the Kane County Sheriff's Office, which recorded 48 user sessions in a single month, as well as state employment offices and local organizations. The initiative is funded by a $167,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and administered through workNet Batavia, a regional career resource center that supports job seekers and employers with training, coaching and job placement services.
