IDEMIA Public Security North America has started deploying enhanced self-service kiosks to improve civil applicant processing and criminal background checks, according to a press release. The company's Supervised Multi-Acquisition Remote Technology for Enrollment (SMART-E) kiosks are the first of their kind to facilitate in-person enrollment with a remote agent.
This technology allows for a robust enrollment center network in a small footprint, with kiosks that can be placed in a variety of locations, including less-populated areas. The remote proctors and operators can be located anywhere in the country, which helps lower labor costs and overhead.
"As a market-leader in the identity enrollment space, I'm proud to continue providing states and government customers with the latest innovations in secure and advanced technologies," Christian Henry, SVP of client success at IDEMIA Public Security North America, said in the release.
IDEMIA has already deployed the kiosks in Pennsylvania and Colorado, with plans to have them live in five states by the end of 2025 and at least 10 states in 2026. The company states that the kiosks have a fingerprint rejection rate under 2%, providing a reliable solution for identity proofing.
