PALO ALTO, Calif. - Frost & Sullivan selected ID TECH as the recipient of the 2006 Award for Emerging Company in the smart cards market. The award recognizes the company's excellence in providing smart card, magnetic stripe, and barcode-reading solutions, and its foresight in creatingmore innovations to cater to the growing market.
ID TECH offers a full line of barcode scanners and magnetic stripe, smart card, as well as hybrid readers. By focusing on all of the technologies required by the retail segment, the company has garnered a larger customer base while maintainingits existing customer base.
"Capitalizing on its years of experience in manufacturing magnetic stripe readers, the company was in the right position when smart cards were adopted," said Frost & Sullivan research analyst George C Paul. "It was a natural step forward to add smart card capability to its magnetic stripe readers to create hybrid readers and thereby, provide a migration path for the POS and banking markets."
ID TECH's readers can interpret both magnetic stripe and smart cards for over a million cycles. One of the hybrid readers, the MiniSmart, is also the smallest million-cycles, EMV 2000 certified smart card reader in the industry. It comes with EMV level-1 integral electronics, and with a depth of one inch, it has the advantage of easily integrating into other devices allowing EMV level-1 compliance.
Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this Award to a company that has demonstrated excellence in management, high growth, and positive social and economic impacts on local and national communities and customers. The award is based on numerous factors including the company's business development, competitive strategy, and leadership.
