ICE touchscreen is in-room hotel concierge

December 14, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. — Intelity Corp. has developed a concierge program that allows hotel guests to arrange services through touchscreens installed in each guest room.

Through the Interactive Customer Experience Solution, guests can make appointments at a spa or restaurant as well as arrange valet and room service. The interactive system, which was announced in November, uses video, multiple touchscreens and virtual narrators.

According to a news release, ICE accommodates many platforms, so guests can access amenities on personal devices such as cell phones, laptops or smartphones.

ICE, which was launched in November, uses video, multitouch screens and virtual narrators.ICE is also designed to enable hotels to modify prices instantly and to send hotel-wide messages to guests and employees in real time.

The system is interfaced with a hotel's point-of-sale system. Hotel activity is tracked and measured, then presented in charts, graphs and reports to inform budgetary and operation decisions.

The system is customizable to bridge the hotel's existing point of sale, food and beverage, spa, recreation, and event-planning systems. ICE's system components are supplied by Dell, Microsoft, Adobe and standard open-source providers, so in-house IT persons can work with the system.
