Independence Blue Cross, in partnership with the American Heart Association and Spectrum Health Services, has chosen the next location for its Mobile Hands-Only CPR Kiosk at Spectrum Health Services in Philadelphia.
The kiosk, sponsored by Independence Blue Cross, previously operated at Maria de los Santos Health Center, where it trained nearly 1,000 people since March. Since its launch in January 2023, more than 4,400 individuals have used the kiosk to learn life-saving CPR skills, according to a Vista Today report.
"More than 350,000 Americans will experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest this year, and too many people don't feel prepared to help," Dr. Richard Snyder, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Independence Blue Cross, told the news outlet.
The Mobile Hands-Only CPR Kiosk provides interactive, self-paced training to teach and reinforce CPR skills in public settings such as malls, airports and community centers. Studies show that hands-only CPR is as effective as conventional CPR.
Independence Blue Cross and the American Heart Association have partnered for more than a decade to expand access to CPR and automated external defibrillator education across Greater Philadelphia, placing kiosks in high-traffic community locations.
