Madrid-based Iberia Airlines is testing a system that lets passengers print out luggage tags at home — a system that the carrier claims is the first of its kind.
According to a report on latimes.com, passengers are able to print their luggage tags on plain paper and then place them plastic sleeves that are available at the airport. Iberia is testing the system on domestic flights in Spain before rolling it out to international flights.
"As you can imagine, the time it saves varies very much depending on the airport, the day and the moment the passenger goes to the check-in area, but at peak moments it can save up to 30 minutes," Iberia spokesman Santiago de Juan Martinez said in the article.
