FREMONT, Calif. - SMART Modular Technologies announced in a news release that Iain MacKenzie has been named chief executive officer. MacKenzie will take on his new duties immediately, in addition to his continuing responsibilities as president.

President of SMART since 2002, MacKenzie has worked for more than 25 years in the electronics industry in the areas of operations, and general management for corporations spanning the components, PC and server markets. As president of SMART, he has been responsible for leading, driving and managing all aspects of the company. As CEO, he will continue in his leadership role and work directly with the board of directors to chart SMART's future direction and continue to grow its profitability, customer base and reputation for delivering high-quality products and services.
