HECON partner purchases German printer business

September 2, 2004

MANASQUAN, N.J. -- Officials at kiosk printer manufacturer HECON by HENGSTLER anticipate offering a greatly expanded product line after HECON partner Hengstler GmbH's recent purchase of German-based BDT Products' thermal printer business.

Details of the purchase, which closed on Sept. 1, were not disclosed by HECON. HECON and Hengstler GmbH are both owned by Danaher Corp. (NYSE:DHR)

HECON will offer a variety of BDT products, including 8 ½-inch printers, print modules, bundlers, and complete printer units.

"As of today, although we don't have everything in place, we're beginning our (marketing) efforts," said Charles Levinski, HECON sales/product manager. "The products will be on our Web site shortly."

Levinski said BDT's thermal production line should be shifted to Hengstler's manufacturing facility in Aldingen, Germany, by late September.

Based in Manasquan, N.J., HECON manufactures a line of thermal printers and paper cutters for the kiosk industry.
