Health system prescribes KIS kiosks for human resources

August 29, 2002

BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- Providence Health System in Alaska is using 13 kiosks manufactured by Kiosk Information Systems (KIS) to provide human resources information to those employees without computers.

Using the kiosks, the employees can view internal job openings, submit employment applications, enter vacation requests, monitor available time off, and check the hours they've clocked each week. The system replaces a paper-based process, according to a KIS news release.

"Our HR department has responded to fewer questions from employees since deployment," said Vince Frazier, project manager at Providence Health System. "We're planning to add self-service applications for benefits enrollment and tax adjustments in the next year."

The KIS KM816 sit-down wedge unit used by Providence is ideal for high-volume usage, KIS president Rick Malone said. The kiosks feature 16-gauge steel construction, a printer, keyboard and trackball.
