Green McDonald's deploys educational touchscreen solution
August 10, 2009
Quality Automation Graphics has announced its Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard, or EEED, has been unveiled at the grand opening of the third "green" McDonald's restaurant in the United States. According to a news release, the McDonald's franchise is located in Cary, N.C., and is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council.
The EEED is an interactive touchscreen user interface that employs a combination of photo-realistic graphics, non-live and live data to help diners learn about the green features throughout the restaurant. The self-service program's capabilities include an interactive 360-degree digital tour of the building, routes and contact information for buses, information on bike and pedestrian paths and a "green" quiz.
Ric Richards, the franchise's owner and operator, says customers have responded well to the solution:
 | Everyone's overall reaction to the dashboard has definitely brought the 'wow' factor to a new level. The touchscreen hits customers right in the face when they walk in the restaurant. It's so unique and different. People are walking right up and touching the dashboard right away. | |
The restaurant's sustainable features include LED lights, Solatubes, electric car-charge stations and recycled countertops, flooring and décor.
