The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded Minnesota based Native Sun Community Power Development more than $6.5 million for the Upper Midwest Inter-Tribal Electronic Vehicle Charging Community Network, according to a Native News Online report.
More than 120 charging stations will be installed by ZEF Energy, Native Sun Community Power Development and local contractors including 63 Level 2 EV charging stations and 59 fast-charging hubs.
The funds will also be used to purchase electric vehicles to be charged for use by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North and South Dakota and the Red Lake Tribal Nation in northern Minnesota.
