Golf company tutors using kiosks

March 12, 2002

NEW YORK - Interactive golfing company SwingCam Inc. and self-service kiosk manufacturer Companion Systems are teeing off together in the manufacture of a kiosk device system that analyzes golf swings.

Salt Lake City, Utah-based Companion Systems has been named the exclusive designer and manufacturer of the system. SwingCam's system features indoor and outdoor interactive kiosk devices. A video unit tapes a golfer's swing, and the kiosk allows golfers to view the video and analyze their swings.

The system is available through both kiosks and the Internet. SwingCam and Nike Golf on Feb. 6 signed an agreement making SwingCam the exclusive provider of golf video and swing analysis to Nike Golf, with the two companies making swing analysis available over the World Wide Web.

The SwingCam system is currently in use at golf courses and driving ranges in California, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Company officials plan to market the product to an international audience within the next few years.
