NEW YORK - Public access Internet kiosk provider
Golden Screens Interactive Technologies Inc. has selectedIBM(NYSE:IBM) for an expansion of the rollout of Golden Screens GS Planet Internet kiosk network.The agreement secures IBM as the preferred hardware and systems integration vendor for Golden Screens for a variety of products and services including kiosk enclosure manufacturing, servers, workstations, Web hosting services, project management and integration and software development. The estimated value of the equipment and services covered in this agreement is approximately $250 million over the next five years.
GS Planet kiosks have been deployed throughout the New York Tri-State area in conjunction with contracts with Transcom, a consortium of the top 16 transportation agencies in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and Westfield America Realty Inc., a shopping mall developer. Golden Screens expects to expand the into several new major markets including Boston, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis and Washington, D.C. by the end of 2000.
In addition to the contracts with Transcom and Westfield, Golden Screens has recently been awarded contracts with the General Services Administration and with the Oakland Metropolitan Transportation Committee (MTC) as part of the TravInfo project.
