Taiwanese electric scooter maker Gogoro will open its first public battery swapping station in Singapore next month, according to a report by The Straights Times. This launch marks a significant step toward wider adoption of electric two-wheelers in the city-state.
The station, located at a Shell service station, will be the first in a network planned by Gogoro's distributor, Cycle & Carriage, in partnership with Shell Recharge. This collaboration aims to establish a convenient and growing network of swapping stations across Singapore over the next two years.
C&C plans to launch commercial sales of Gogoro's electric scooters and battery swapping services later this year. Three scooter models will be available for purchase or lease, with battery swapping, servicing and maintenance included in leasing packages. Riders will access the swapping stations through a dedicated Gogoro smartphone app.
Gogoro's entry into the Singapore market comes amidst growing interest in electric scooter battery swapping technology.
