BRANFORD, Conn. - Kiosk software developer Netkey Inc., with an eye toward international markets, has unveiled upgrades to its kiosk development software package Netkey Creator and management software system Netkey Manager. Both upgrades - Creator 5.5 and Manager 1.6 - will be available to the general market on Dec. 10.
Netkey said both upgrades include improved administration offerings, enhanced installation plans, and complete multi-language support for the Unicode Worldwide Character Standard. Unicode is a binary code outline for text and script characters that can process and display a variety of languages.
In announcing the upgrades, Netkey cited a Frost and Sullivan report that predicts kiosk deployments will grow at an annual rate of around 13 percent to 15 percent in Asia, South America, Africa, and the South Pacific. The company expects the Unicode upgrade to give its software platforms the versatility to adapt to numerous languages.
In addition, Creator 5.5 features full support for Active X controls. Active X controls ease the implementation of third-party tools and non-Web-based objects into a kiosk program. Manager 1.6 also has several other new features, including the ability to copy and delete kiosks from a management system, and five new report formats.
"By upgrading our two major products, Netkey Creator and Manager, in tandem, we can deliver tightly integrated software," Rajeev Singh, Netkey chief product officer, said in a news release.
