Gibraltar, a British territory in the Iberian peninsula, has introduced two smart city initiatives to improve access to government services.

It will begin with providing an eGov Membership Pass app, followed by kiosks at a later date, according to a report by the Gibraltar Chronicle.

With the app, residents can access government services and make payments on Apple Pay or Google Wallet. The kiosks will be initially deployed at the Primary Care Center for check-ins and the Customer Care Hub for checking housing list number and voter registration information. The government later plans to expand the kiosks to the post office.

"This is a practical, real-world example of digital government in action, reducing queues, increasing efficiency and giving people quicker, secure access to services," Glendon Martinez, chief secretary, told the news outlet.
