MILPITAS, Calif. - Get2Nethas installed "NetStations" at New York's Javits Convention Center that allow users of laptop and handheld devices to access the Internet using infrared connectivity.
Get2Net, based in Denver, has teamed with Clarinet Systems Inc. of Milpitas, Calif. to allow users to point to and connect to the Internet using an EthIR LAN wireless access system. The connection is made using a built-in, infrared port, eliminating the need for cards, cables or software.
Users simply point their handheld device at the "EthIR Beam" to start the connection, and then download pre-defined information using a personal navigation tool called Vindigo.
