Free PCR testing for COVID-19 is now available 24/7 at a self-serve kiosk in Pembroke, Georgia, according to a press release. The Coastal Health District has installed a test-and-go kiosk outside the Bryan County Health Department at 430 Ledford Street in Pembroke.

The kiosk will dispense a testing kit that allows users to collect their own specimen using a nasal swab, similar to at-home testing kits. The specimen is then repackaged and placed back into the kiosk.

Unlike rapid at-home tests, these specimens are picked up from the kiosk daily and sent to an accredited lab for PCR testing with results by email or text, usually within 48 hours.

There is no out-of-pocket cost for the test, although insurance will be billed if insurance information is provided.

The new installation marks the sixth kiosk in the Coastal Health District.
