Convenience stores in Georgia are seeking a law to require the state's electric company, which has a monopoly, pay the same electricity rates convenience stores will have to pay before they commit to investing in EV charging stations, according to a report in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Members of the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores recognize the National Electric Highway Coalition, which includes Georgia Power, plans to install EV charging stations nationwide.
Two proposed bills — Senate Bill 492 and House Bill 1322 — require Georgia Power to operate charging stations through a subsidiary that will pay the same rates as private businesses.
