Galvanon to supply patient check-in kiosks

November 9, 2004

MAITLAND, Fla. - Galvanon partnered with VHA Southwest to provide patient self-service kiosks to VHA Southwest's 67 member organizations. Dubbed MediKiosk, the kiosk solution automates patient check-in and check-out processes, reduces administrative costs and improves patient satisfaction, according to a news release.

MediKiosk resembles airline ticketing kiosks. Like airline kiosks, MediKiosk allows individuals to check-in with a simple swipe of their driver's license, credit card or membership card. MediKiosk relays the information to the organization's hospital information system or physician practice management system. This eliminates time spent on redundant data entry and reduces the risk of patient misidentification.

According to Joyce Grant, practice manager of the Baylor Sammons Breast Imaging Center, one of the early adopters of MediKiosk, "Our number one patient complaint has always been the fact that the patient must complete the same paperwork every time they come to the Center for studies. MediKiosk resolves this problem because once the patient completes demographic, insurance and history information it is stored electronically and all she need do on her next visit is to update the information."
