'Future of Retail' event to discuss RFID and NFC

Retail self-checkout with RFID and NFC will be discussed at next week's "Future of Retail" event.

The MIT and ChainLink Research-hosted event will feature Robert Locke, VP and GM of Tyco Retail Solutions, with Tim Coyle from MIT RFID and ChainLink CEO Ann Grackin leading the discussion.

As retailers focus on maximizing the in-store experience with self-checkout and mobile technology, they need the best techniques to leverage the technologies to ensure profitable store operations, the announcement said. Locke will share his vision for the future of RFID and NFC and the practical strategies that make them accessible for retailers today.

The Future of Retail event will take place on Sept. 24, at the MIT Stata Center in Cambridge, Mass.
