FRISCO, Texas — Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. has announced the availability of its redesigned self-checkout graphical user interface, built on Microsoft Internet Explorer multimedia platforms.
Similar to the design standards for Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, the new U-Scan GUI uses water-drop style icons and buttons, providing richer texture and better visual depth. Using high-quality Adobe Shockwave Flash 9 and MP3 audio file formats, the high-contrast user screens provide visually rich content. Clean and crisp text, buttons, animations and sounds make it easier and faster for customers to navigate the transaction.
The new GUI includes significant improvements in software functionality, allowing customers to scroll up and down the electronic receipt to verify items and change the volume and language at any time during the transaction. Payment icons use standard logos and accurate representations of cash to make the tender type selection faster and easier for shoppers.
Fujitsu's U-Scan Genesis models include the new GUI as a standard interface and it is an optional upgrade for previous U-Scan models. This means that multiple generations of U-Scan solutions can run on the retailer's core POS solution without the need for complex regressions. The backward compatibility of the GUI helps retailers protect and extend the life of their investment in self-checkout systems.
