The city of Fort Wayne, Indiana will install 27 electric car charging vehicles in 10 different locations this spring, according to a wayne.com report.
The $350,000 project will support stations in high traffic areas. The charging costs will not exceed the current market price of about $2 per charging hour.
The stations will be funded in part through a $90,000 grant from the Indiana Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund Committee.
Shan Gunawardena, the city's public works director, said that within the next five years, every production vehicle will be available as an EV option.
