Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport has installed self-service kiosks to expedite entry into the U.S., according to the South Florida Business Journal.
FXE becomes the first general aviation airport in the U.S. to introduce the Automated Passport Control kiosks at its on-site U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility, according to the city of Fort Lauderdale.
The kiosks will save travelers time going through customs by removing the need for passengers to hand write a customs declaration form.
Travelers will be able to declare citizenship, present documents and complete the administrative portion of the process at a self-serve kiosk.
Travelers input the information into a kiosk, then scan their passport and fingerprints, confirm their flight number and take a picture. The kiosk will then provide a receipt for the traveler to present to a CBP officer at the checkout point.
There is no charge to use the technology, and neither membership or preregistration are required.
