Former Ardent CEO returns to the job

February 25, 2002

McLEAN, Va. - Ulysses Auger, the original chief executive officer at Internet service provider Ardent Communications Inc. (OTCBB:ARDT), is returning to the role he served for 2 ½ years. Auger, currently Ardent's chairman of the board, is stepping in as interim CEO as the company attempts to rebound from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Auger, who was CEO from January 1998 through October 2000, replaces Michael Lee, who left the company to pursue other interests, Ardent announced on Nov. 12.

Ardent also announced that Evans Anderson has been named president. Anderson was vice president of sales and marketing for the company before leaving to found Title Wave Networks, a broadband DSL data equipment sales company.

Among Ardent's properties are Internet kiosks located in hotels, cruise ships, airports and retail centers. The company, formerly known as CAIS Internet Inc., cited economic uncertainty following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks for the decision to declare Chapter 11 on Oct. 11.

"The board has asked me to come back and shepherd the company through this difficult period in its history," Auger said in a news release. "I am pleased that Evans Anderson, a key figure in the company's history, has agreed to come back and assist the company as well."
