FitMe, Hamamatsu suit up for body scanning

February 17, 2002

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Software developer FitMe.com, which has created a body-scanning software program, has teamed with optical sensor manufacturer Hamamatsu Photonic Systems to launch a body-scanning hardware and software platform.

The new platform combines FitMe's Web-based software with Hamamatsu's body scanning technology to create a unified platform that be customized for use in a variety of applications.

Officials from both companies expect the platform to be utilized by apparel and fitness industries in mass customization applications. But they said the program also can be simplified for use by retail customers at body-scanning kiosks. This past October, FitMe launched Size Genie, a Web-based custom-fitting software program for kiosks.
