Almost all FIs with video teller ATMs take advantage of technology's ability to extend customer service hours beyond their usual branch opening and closing times. But Tobyhanna Federal Credit Union of northeastern Pennsylvania is going 24/7 with its new APTRA Interactive Teller machines from NCR Corp.
Tobyhanna has installed two of the machines, which offer live teller assistance at any hour on any day of the week, netting in a 78 percent increase in branch service hours, according to an NCR press release.
"What we really liked about NCR APTRA Interactive Teller was that it gives us an efficient way of extending our service hours, so that we can improve our members' experience without increasing their costs," said Sean Jelen, CEO of Tobyhanna FCU.
Adding an additional 10 hours of service per week to a typical branch can cost as much as $50,000 per year, according to figures from NCR. During its average lifespan, APTRA Interactive Teller — the only technology that gives the remote teller physical control over the ATM — can conduct approximately 95 percent of typical teller transactions at a fraction of the operational cost.
