Eyebot has partnered with eyewear retailer Quay to install automated vision-testing kiosks at select stores, according to a press release, allowing customers to obtain doctor-verified eyeglass prescriptions while shopping for frames. The kiosks can complete the testing process and provide a prescription in less than 15 minutes, potentially eliminating the need for customers to schedule a separate appointment before purchasing prescription glasses.

Eyebot's system combines optical imaging and automated vision-testing technology with clinical oversight. Each prescription generated through the kiosk is reviewed and approved by a licensed eye doctor. The companies said the service is intended to address a common obstacle for eyewear shoppers who are ready to purchase frames but do not have a current prescription. For Quay, the kiosks also support the retailer's expansion of its prescription eyewear business by allowing customers to move from selecting frames to obtaining a prescription during the same store visit.

The initial rollout includes Quay stores at Irvine Spectrum and Victoria Gardens in Southern California, with additional locations planned. Eyebot, founded in 2021, said its kiosks are intended for adults ages 18 to 64 who do not have known eye conditions. The company emphasized that the automated service is not a replacement for comprehensive eye examinations and recommends that customers continue receiving regular in-person eye care.
