NEW YORK - The days of lugging around bags full of exhibitor information packages at trade shows are numbered according to a New York technology firm that is utilizing kiosks to deliver the same information in CD-ROM form. ExpoDisc announced on July 23 that it has reached an agreement with Reed Exhibitions to offer on-demand information distribution services at upcoming Reed shows.
Reed and ExpoDisc experimented with ExpoDisc's program this spring, utilizing it at four Reed-organized events. About 3,000 attendees at each event used the ExpoDisc system to download exhibitor content.
Attendees use ExpoDisc touchscreen kiosks to select exhibitor information, which is burned on a CD-ROM. Brochures, product catalogs, and audio-video presentations are available through the kiosks/CD-ROM system.
Upcoming Reed shows that will utilize the ExpoDisc system include the Global Gaming Expo Sept. 17-19 in Las Vegas, and the biopharmaceutical show BIOPHEX Oct. 22-24 in Santa Clara, Calif. Based in Richmond, England, Reed organizes 470 events annually in 29 countries.
