Electric mobility providers Hubject and e-clearing.net have partnered to expand Plug&Charge to provide smart charging services to hundreds of thousands of EV drivers across Europe, according to a press release. Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volvo and others have already integrated Plug&Charge.
Plug&Charge will be offered and enabled to several hundred municipal utilities in Germany thanks to this collaboration.
"The municipal utilities will be able to issue secure charging certificates together with Smart/Lab — so-called Sub or Leaf certificates," Mark Walcher, CEO of Smart/Lab, said in the press release.
For the EV drivers, Plug&Charge offers a more convenient alternative to RFID cards and mobile apps, which are widely used for authentication of charging sessions today, and enables charging without additional user input, according to the release.
