Electric vehicle owners in Hawaii who don't own an EV charger are struggling to find public charging stations, according to a civilbeat.org report.

There are currently 781 public chargers in Hawaii, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, slightly more than a fifth that will be needed by 2030, according to estimates by the Hawaii Electric Co.

Costly regulations, infrastructure barriers and extensive permitting processes have delayed installations in many buildings.
